It is that time of the year again, when the world leader in home electronics Sony has decided to expand and refresh their Cybershot line of digital cameras. They recently revealed their new 14.1 megapixel T99 and 12.2 megapixel WX5 and TX9 cameras which come in an all aluminum design a refreshing vibrant colors. All three models feature the BIONZ processor which is found in their ALPHA series of DSLR cameras and have 32MB internal memory. Of late Sony has done away with the proprietary memory stick slot and these cameras can now support SD cards as well. The T99 is a good choice for underwater photography as it is capable of shooting sweep panorama shots submerged in water as well as shoot videos in 720p HD video at a frame rate of 30fps.

The TX9 is also a snorkeling friendly camera, but apart from the fact that it boasts full HD 1080i video recording, and Sweep Multi Angle for "3D-style" imaging, it also has the 3D sweep panorama function which new new NEX series of cameras has just been given. Another great feature of the TX9 is its "background defocus" that gives the user an effect of sharp foreground images with a blurry background which is very similar to the effect one gets from DSLR cameras. If one is willing to sacrifice a water resistant design for a 5x optical zoom and Sony’s G lens while still retaining the 3D features of the TX9's the WX5 is the one to choose. As of now the price tag of these cameras hasn’t been revealed so one will have to wait till mid September to know the actual price of these new cameras.
