Transfer Jet is a close proximity wireless data transfer technology that has been launched by Sony. It enables a fast transfer of data between two devices by just being in close proximity to each other. The Transfer Jet’s transmission rate is 560Mb/s with an effective transmission rate of 375Mb/s.

Transfer Jet allows transfer of data and files between two objects by directly touching the electronic products with each other. It does not require even an access point. For example, just by touching a TV with a digital camera, it will enable the pictures to be immediately displayed on the TV screen.

Transfer Jet can be used as a universal interface across all consumer electronic devices. Sony is launching a reference kit and software kit for developers to use this technology. The kits will enable the use of this technology for products like cellular phones, digital video cameras, digital still cameras, personal computers and hard disk recorders.
