Olympus service centre changes some of the functional parts of my digital camera

Question : I have taken my camera FE 340 to the Olympus Service Centre at 402 Deepali Building Nehru Place New Delhi for repairing (on 09.11.2011). After checking of the same, I was informed that it has problem in zoom system and the whole system needs replacement. Estimate given was Rs. 2350. I agreed to it and kept camera at the center. I was given a receipt for the same and was told it will be ready by 10.11.11. Later on when I inquired on 10.11.11, I was told it will be ready on 11.11.11 and that they have re checked the camera and there is some more internal part which needs replacement. The estimate for the same was Rs. 2250. Thus in all I was asked to pay Rs. 4600. I asked them why they did not tell me this at the first instance, they simply told they came to know only after opening it. When I protested, they simply said "You are telling a lie", you were informed about the same. I had no option but to take back my camera from them. After getting the same, i noticed that the zoom system (which was working to some extent when I gave camera to them) has stopped working totally now. I am shocked to get such cheating treatment at the Olympus Service center where people change working internal parts and later on claim payment for the same.

Answer : Dear Consumer,
We can understand your pain and disappointment. Thanks for sharing your inputs and experience about the product which would be beneficial to the prospective consumers. Please give them the product for repair once more with strict instructions. They are responsible for the damages caused to your product during the service. At the same time, please write a letter to them in shape of a legal demand notice detailing all your consumer complaints. Please mention all relevant details of earlier job sheets. In case, they do not come up with a solution then you may go ahead with your complaint in the district consumer forum. I hope the company would realize the consumer needs and do the needful to provide proper consumer services so as to maintain its repute in the market. Please keep proper record of all the relevant documents which would be crucial to establish your claim.
