Question : I HAD PURCHASED A CABIB A3300 IS FOR RS.9700/- FROM M/S.ASIAN CAMERA CENTRE,CITY CENTRE BLDG., SHOP NO.1, BEHIND HOTEL SATYA HEERA, MAPUSA-GOA PHONE NO.2252122, WHO I BELIEVE PLACED THE ORDER WITH ONE M/S.CENTEAUR COMPUTERS, F10, JAIRAM COMPLEX, NEUGINAGAR, RUA DE QUREM, PANAJI PHONE NO.0832-2421956/2422709 AFTER A USUAGE OF ABOUT 15 DAYS THE LENS WOULD NOT POP UP WHEN THE POP UP BUTTON WAS PRESSED. I HAD APPROACHED MESSRS. ASIAN CAMERA CENTRE FOR THE DEFECT THEY KEPT IT FOR A FEW DAYS AND ON GOING BACK TO THEM THEY SAID - YOU WILL HAVE TO CONTACT MESSRS.CENTEAUR COMUTERS, PANAJI TO GET IT RECTIFIED WHICH ON CONTACTING THEM THEY SAID YOU WILL HAVE TO CONTACT MESSRS.ASIAN CAMERA CENTRE, MAPUSA. NOW ASIAN CAMERA CENTRE, MAPUSA HAS ASKED ME TO CONTACT THE SERVICE CENTRE AND THAT THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE BUT ONLY TO COLLECT THE COMMISSION FOR THE PRODUCT SOLD TO ME. IT IS SO DISGRACEFUL THAT YOU APPOINT SUCH QUACKS WITH NO BUSINESS ETHICS WHICH ONLY RESULTS IN DAMAGING THE NAME OF YOUR PRODUCT NOT BECAUSE YOUR PRODUCT IS BAD BUT THE INTERMEDIATRIES THAT HANDLE ARE ONLY TO MAKE A FAST BUCK AND PUT THE CLIENT AT A VERY DIFFICULT SITUATION. Answer : Dear Consumer,

We can understand your pain and disappointment. They can not give you such baseless reasons. It is their duty to get it repaired whatever it takes to make it functional. You are right that seller is not just to collect commission from the sale. He is also duty bound to provide you proper post sale services. Now coming to the warranty, please refer to your warranty documents carefully given along with your product. Since your product is under warranty, its company’s duty to repair it to your satisfaction. Any such delay in repairing the product would amount to deficiency in services which is actionable under the consumer act as prevailed in India. You can write a letter to both the company and the seller and call upon them to rectify all the problems with in a specified time. Please keep a record of all the essential documents which would be crucial to establish your case in the consumer forum. I hope once you will write to them, they will come forward to redress your grievance at the priority.
