Review Details

The MSI PR201 notebook is targeted towards professionals. The PR201 supports a black body like other business notebooks, with nice silver insides. This makes this MSI Laptop look very simplistic and nice to look at.

 

On the left side it supports a Kensington security slot, VGA port, USB, LAN port, and an optical drive. Additional 2 USB, a modem, an HDMI port, a PC card slot and a flash card reader are placed on right hand side of the notebook.
 
The few cons that we found were that the touchpad has no multi-touch functions or side scrolls. This laptop has a plain and neat look, but lacks a FireWire port.


A series of benchmarks were run to how this notebook performs.
 
In the PC Mark 05: CPU Score - 5800, Memory Score - 4885, Graphics Score - 2453, HDD - 4461, Overall the MSI Scored a 4795. In the 3D Mark 05: CPU Score - 7951,The Overall score was 1383. Maxxon CineBench R10 (CPU Score) - 4694. FarCry (fps) (640x480, low detail) - 51.41. The quality of the screen quality is average and out of 10 we would give it a 6.5 while the audio scores a 7.
 
The battery life of 3 hours 27 mins is good and it weighs just 1.8 kgs. The laptop is definitely meant for the business executives with its great processing power. However a better touchpad and optical drive would have been much appreciated.
