What are slim laptops?
Laptops are defined as slim or bulky based on their thickness and their thickness depends on the components that they are based on. The type of CPU, cooling solution, type of hard drive, Optical disc drive, Card slots and various ports are the major components. Basically a laptop can be classified either on basis of its weight and size which can affect the portability in several ways. You'll generally find smaller screens in slim laptops which are just good enough for performing basic tasks such as Web browsing, editing presentations and chatting.

To keep the weight below 1.5 kgs, three or four cell batteries are used which restricts the battery life to less than two hours.
Connectivity options:
Slim laptops have limited connectivity options, i.e. fewer USB ports, no S-video out, missing card reader and may be no HDMI out etc.
Small keyboards:
A 13.3-inch is usually considered the perfect compromise because it still has a full-size keyboard. Anything smaller and the keys also automatically become smaller, making typing difficult.

Whether a slim laptop is for you or not depends more on personal choice rather than anything else. For some people configuration and performance matters the most, but for people for whom the style that matters they don't mind paying a higher price for a slim laptop than a bulky one with the same configuration. But, does paying higher price for something just because of slimness and style make sense? “Yes, slim laptops are better for some because of the comfort they provide. Slim laptops are for people who are constantly on the move and need a laptop for checking emails and basic Web browsing and various other things too. Without sacrificing on portability part.
