Today you can easily buy a laptop for less than 30k, making it possible for people with limited budget to benefit from computing on the go. Here are some key things that would certainly help you make a better buying decision. When you go shopping on a budget the goal should be to optimize the limited resources that are available on these laptops. We look at the four most important things – Displays, processor, storage and memory.
Displays: Although for displays it is considered that the bigger the better it is but in case of laptops it is just the opposite. Bigger displays make your laptops heavier and they also reduce the battery backup. If you are a frequent traveler and you lug your notebook everywhere you go, choose a notebook with a 13.3inch or a 14.1 inch display like Dell Vostro A840 or Zenith Director. If you hardly go out or you need to carry your laptop once in a while, choosing a 15.4 inch laptop is recommended. For e.g. Dell Vostro A860.

Processor: Choosing a processor can be tricky. Look for these three basic things in a processor - speed, FSB and cache.. For e.g. a processor with 1.8GHz speed, 800 MHz FSB and 2MB L2 Cache would not be recommended over a processor with 1.8GHz speed, 533 MHz FSB and 1MB L2 Cache.

RAM: If you do not have enough RAM the computers performance will be slow and sluggish. Always try to keep the RAM slightly above the minimum requirements of the operating system. For E.g. Windows XP has a minimum requirement of 512MB, but it is recommended to go for at least 1GB of RAM.
HDD: The storage space should be selected strictly based on the user’s usage. For e.g. if you keep lots of files and material on your computer at least a 160GB HDD is recommended. You can go for a smaller capacity disk if you need just limited stuff to be stored on your computer.
