It is surprising how many people write in to ask us about low notebook performance after some months of usage. The hardware remains the same over time, so why does the performance go down? It is either because of unwanted programs that are hogging the memory, viruses or simply a cluttered computer. Here are five simple ways that would help you spring-clean your notebook.
Remove unwanted startup programs
Will your car have the same pick-up if you were drive it alone or stuff six friends in it? It will not be. It is the same with computers. If a computer has to load more programs when it starts, the startup time of your computer will increase.
- One easy way to reduce the startup time is to remove all unwanted software that you have. Go to Control Panel> Add/Remove programs and remove the ones that you don’t require.

- Download Windows defender, it will allow you to control the softwares that should load at startup. Run Windows defender> Click on tools> Software Explorer

Backup your old files
Get rid of all unnecessary files and folders that are stored on your hard disc. The access time of the hard drive is directly affected by the number of files that are stored on your computer, so make sure to remove all those files that you do not require on regular basis.
To create a backup go to control panel> backup and restore> choose backup.

Defragment your HDD
Just like a clean and properly arranged bookshelf helps in finding your favorite book on time, a clean and well arranged hard disk makes it simpler and faster for the PC to search the required file in the least possible time thus improving performance.

Install an Antivirus
Viruses and trojans make your system slower and vulnerable to other problems like identity theft and data loss. To avoid these things always have a anti-virus software installed on your computer and keep it updated.

Update regularly
Many people think that updates make computers slower, but the truth is that, patches and updates are sent to correct bugs and plug vulnerabilities. They prevent your computer from future problems. Ensure that automatic updates are enabled on your computer.
