Dell has launched a new laptop in India, the Dell XPS 14z, which is supposed to be one of the thinnest and most compact 14-inch laptops with an optical drive and discrete graphics solution in the world – so compact in fact, that Dell says it fits in a conventional 13-inch laptop form factor.
Priced at Rs. 66,990 the Dell XPS 14z weighs in at 19.8 kgs, and measures in at measures in at 2.3cm height, 33.5cm width, and 23.4cm depth. It is definitely a looker, enough that Dell says the XPS 14z is “designed to help professionals power through their day – and look good doing it.”
Features include a 14-inch 1366x768 pixel backlit WLED display, backlit-chiclet style keyboard, choice of dual-core Core i5 or i7 processors, an Nvidia GeForce GT520M graphics card with 1GB of video memory, Nvidia’s Optimus technology for improved battery life, Dell Stage for multimedia content management, and SyncUP software by Nero to help synchronize that content with other Dell Stage enabled laptops.

Other specifications include 4GB of DDR3 RAM (up to 8GB), 500GB 7,200RPM hard disk (up to 750GB), a DVD writer, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0, Intel Wireless-Display, an integrated 1.3MP HD webcam, dual array digital microphones, stereo speakers and an 8-cell battery that should provide more than 6.5 hours of battery life. Ports include USB 3.0, USB 2.0, HDMI 1.4, RJ-45, and Mini Display-Port.
