MSI Wind U160 Launched

Micro Star International (MSI) has launched the MSI Wind U160, a netbook based on Intel's new power efficient Pine Tail platform. A winner of the Innovation Foundation Design Award in Germany, this device is available in Jet Black and Fancy Gold for Rs. 23,999.
 
The Wind U160 is powered by Intel's N450 Atom Processor and comes pre-loaded with Microsoft Windows 7 Starter edition. It has display that is 10 inches wide diagonally and has a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. Other features include a 1.3-megapixel web camera, an Intel graphics media accelerator and stereo speakers. The U160 weighs 1kg with battery and is slightly less than one inch thick. It also has a touch pad which has a 20% larger area than those usually found in netbooks.
 
The USP of this gadget is that it comes with different power modes that the user can choose from and has a battery life of up to 15 hours depending on usage. The trade-off being that this is not a very powerful computer, which netbooks usually aren't, and it cannot be used for computing intensive tasks. If a long lasting battery is not a requirement, one can simply just throw in some more money and buy a laptop.
