Dell has added to the popular Inspiron series of laptops by launching the Dell Inspiron 13R, 14R, 15R, 17R and M501R laptops. While they look a lot like their non-R series counterparts, they have impressive features.
 
Out of the new laptops launched, only the 14R and 15R could be found on the Indian website. Here are the specifications of these.
 
Dell 15R Laptops have 15.6 inch widescreen WLED display with TrueLife and a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. They are powered by the new Intel Core i3 and i5 processors and have up to 6 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 SDRAM. The graphics options available on these laptops are the standard Intel HD Graphics and the  Ati Mobility Radeon HD 5470 chips with 512 MB or 1 GB memory.  On the software front, they come with installations of genuine Windows 7 Home Basic or Home Premium 64-Bit versions. Along with the laptop, Dell offers a 30 day trial of McAfee Security Center software.
 
The 15R laptops have hard drives with capacities of up to 640 GB and optical tray load drives with Dual Layer DVD+R capability. Power options available for these laptops are the 6 cell or 9 cell batteries.
 
Other features include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, an integrated 1.3 megapixel webcam with microphone, 3 USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI port and a VGA port. In addition, a built-in 7-in-1 media card reader can read memory cards used in a variety of devices like MP3 players and digital cameras.
 
The 15R laptops have a starting weight of 2.6 kgs with the battery installed.

Dell 14R Laptops, like the 15R laptops, are powered by the new intel Core i3 and i5 processors and come with 64 bit versions of Windows 7 Home Basic or Premium installed. They support up to 4 GB of 1333 MHz DDR3 SDRAM and can be customized to include the Ati Mobility Radeon HD 5470 1GB graphics chip.
 
Similar to the 15R laptops, laptops in the 14R series also have hard drives with capacities of up to 640 GB. However, while they have tray-load DVD+/-RW, these do not have dual layer DVD+R capabilities. Also, the only power option available is a 6 cell Lithium-Ion battery.
 
Other features of the 14R laptops include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 2 USB ports, an integrated 1.3 megapixel webcam with microphone, an HDMI port, a VGA port and a 7-in-1 media card reader.

The 14R laptops have a starting weight of 2.25 kgs with the battery installed.
 
Dell also offers a 1 year limited hardware warranty including InHome service after Remote Diagnosis. They are also known for their after sales service. They also have a reputation of having fewer hardware malfunctions than some other popular manufacturers.
