Hot on the heels of their much-awaited iPad, Apple has added faster processors, next-generation graphics and up to 10 hours of battery life to their MacBook Pro line of laptops.

The new 15-inch and 17-inch MacBooks are powered by Intel Core i5 and i7 processors and have features that optimize performance. These laptops have two graphics processors, the new NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M for peak performance and an Intel HD Graphics processor for normal operation. The battery on these MacBooks can run for 8 to 9 hours on a single charge.

The new 13-inch MacBook now comes with faster Intel Core 2 Duo processors and features a new NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics processor, which means improved performance for graphics intensive applications and high performance games. These laptops now have 4GB RAM and a battery that runs for 10 hours. They are available in two configurations — one with a 2.4 GHz processor and 250GB hard disk, and another with a 2.66 GHz processor and a 320GB hard drive.

These Macs run the Mac OS X Snow Leopard, the latest operating system from Apple and iLife, a suite of applications for multimedia tasks like managing photos, making movies and creating music. Enhancements to the Multi-Touch trackpad add support for new gestures to scroll through photo libraries, documents and Web sites.

MacBooks, though more expensive than most PCs, are quite popular in the USA and have started gaining momentum in India and these updates will definitely make them more desirable.
