What's Good

(Please note: This is a write-up on the HP Pavilion G6-1301TX with an Intel Core i3 2350M processor, 2GB RAM, AMD Radeon HD 7450M graphics processor and 500GB hard drive. There are other variants also available.)

The HP Pavilion G6-1301TX is a mid-range laptop that's powered by a second generation Intel Core i3 processor. Performance is decent and should suffice for everyday use such as Web browsing or working with productivity applications. Graphics performance is better than expected thanks to the AMD Radeon 7450M card, ensuring that you can do more than casual gaming on the Pavilion. The HP laptop is also slightly lighter than most other laptops in this price-segment. The keyboard and touchpad it sports are also well laid out and are comfortable to use.

What's Bad

The Pavilion G6-1301TX comes with only 2GB of RAM and although it has an extra RAM slot for expandability, we wish it had more RAM out of the box. The Pavilion laptop has all the requisite connectivity ports but misses out on ports that support the latest USB 3.0 standard. The Pavilion's battery life is also just average and is barely able to reach the four hour mark on a single charge.

Bottom Line

The HP Pavilion G6-1301TX is a solid mid-range laptop that can easily handle most of your daily computing requirements. It's not the best performer or the one with the best specs but it does offer very good value for money. We recommend it.
