Lenovo Unveils New IdeaPad U and S Series Laptops
CES 2012 was a busy time for Lenovo, with the computer giant unveiling a host of new laptops in the IdeaPad U and S series, aiming to provide a wide variety of performance, styles and colours for every laptop purchaser, from students to professionals. First up, are the new IdeaPad Ultrabooks, such as the IdeaPad U310s and U410s. The company is expanding its Ultrabook portfolio, adding to the already announced IdeaPad U300s. The new Ultrabooks are powered by the Intel Core Processor family, and come with 64GB SSD drives for caching data, and up to 500GB HDD storage. Lenovo Unveils New IdeaPad Y and Z Series Laptops
Lenovo had more in store at CES 2012, unveiling new laptops in the IdeaPad Y and Z, as well as its G series of budget laptops, with eight new models. The Y and Z series will be available from April, starting at $899 and $599 respectively, while the G series will be available from June, starting at $399. The two new Lenovo IdeaPad 14-inch Y480 and 15-inch Y580 models are home entertainment laptops, powered by the Intel Core Processor family, and up to NVIDIA GeForce GTX660M 2GB GDDR5 graphics. Entertainment features include Dolby Home Theatre V4 enhanced audio, JBL designed speakers and OneKey Theater II. Samsung Announces Series 5 Ultrabooks, and Refreshed Series 9
Samsung has officially announced its first Ultrabook offerings at CES 2012, called the Samsung Series 5 Ultra. There will be three models at launch – two 13-inch laptops, and one 14-inch. All three laptos will be released by the end of January. According to Samsung, all three Ultrabooks will be powered by Intel Core i5 processor, and 4GB of RAM. Other features include an 8 hour battery life, and matte displays with 300 nits of brightness and a 1,366x768 pixel resolution. One 13-inch and the 14-inch Series 5 model will feature both a 500GB hard drive and a 16GB of ExpressCache memory (flash). A 13-inch model with a 128GB SSD will also be available. HP Envy 14 Spectre Ultrabook Unveiled
HP has unveiled its very first Ultrabook at CES 2012, calling it the HP Envy 14 Spectre. The company has joined the Ultrabook bandwagon, and such companies and Lenovo, Acer, Asus, Toshiba and Samsung. The first HP Envy 14 Spectre is expected to start shipping in the U.S. by February 8, with an MSRP of $1,399.99 for the base configuration – the rest of teh world will see it by March. The 14-inch HP Envy 14 Spectre weighs 1.7 kgs, and comes with special scratch-resistant glass coating for its lid, palm rest and screen. It has a 14-inch 1600x900 pixel resolution display.
