Question : The issue I have with my notebook is that it keeps on changing the level of battery indicator on and off charging. That is, some times it shows fully charged but the actual level would be something very odd like 45%, 40% etc. Sometimes, while the battery indicator shows some level like 20%,30% etc. the computer turns off suddenly due to the fact that the actual level is always zero. These frequent happenings cause a lot of losing my works unnecessarily. On 24-01-2011, I got notice from the computer itself through its Health analysis( I can send you this when chatting)telling me that the battery needed immediate replacement and i took it to the company servicing center in Shillong, Meghalaya. India. where I am residing. But, they said the company denied replacement. I am so confused of what it is now because the problem persists on. Regarding the steps I have taken to solve the issues, I have contacted online Hp total care, Instant Hp support(online from USA). A man from USA asked me to go for replacement, and one from India HP care told me to calibration. I did calibration but it's of no avail to solving the problems. Here is the analysis report I got on 24-01-2011(even with this I went to the HP servicing centre on 25-01-2011, still they denied replacement saying that the battery is in good health) But if in good health, I wonder why issues still stick on? The actual present condition is that the level of the battery is always at fully charged(100%) on off charging and there is always cross x in red on the tray on charging with a notice 'consider replacing the battery'

Answer : Dear Consumer,
Legally speaking, it depends upon the warranty terms on which you purchased the product. In any case they have to make their stand clear as they can not take contradictory stand as indicated in your consumer complaints. The battery is an important device of the notebook which has to function up to a standard. Nevertheless, at this stage what we suggest you to write a letter to the company and the dealer from where you purchased the product containing all the relevant details and problems you are facing. I hope they would be sensible enough to respond. Keep a record of the all the communications exchanged. Thereafter if the response is not positive you can file consumer complaint.
