Question : Sir,
I have bought a Compaq,610 laptop with Windows vista pre installed in it. I bought it in Dec,2009 and there was a warranty period of 1 year. From last few days there was problem while opening the system so I gave it to an authorised dealer of compaq at Lucknow. They are telling me that there is a password protection in some BIOS setup but I dont have put that password as I have bought the pre installed system.Noe they are saying that in the case is the password is not cracked they have to change the mother board and the cost will be beared by me. The thing is I have not put any password and also it is in warranty period. I want the solution at the earliest becuase this lacklustre revert is not at all acceptable. Kindly do the needful at the earliest.

Answer : Dear Consumer,
Do not feel cheated as you can very well take legal action by complaining in the district consumer forum. As you have stated that your product is in warranty then you have a legal right to get the issues settled by the company. If they are not fulfilling their obligation as stated in the warranty then you can take stern legal action. If, they can not fulfil that responsibility then you have to be compensated accordingly. At this stage you can write them a registered letter containing all problems in detail. In case, they do not come up with a solution then you may go ahead with complaint in the district forum. I hope some sense will prevail over them at the stage of notice itself and they will sort out things.
