Toshiba unveils Cell powered Regza LED TV
Toshiba electronics Japan today announced the launch of their latest innovation, the Cell Regza for the flat screen television market. The Cell Regza stands for the Cell processing engine or the processor that has been used in this television. It is the same 8 Core processor that powers the Popular Sony Playstation 3.
The Cell processor is used to power the whole GUI engine, the time shift capability and multiple channel recording option. Using the 3D GUI a user can browse through channels in an extremely intuitive globe like multi-window layout. It is like Picture-in-Picture (PiP) on steroids. The processor also gives the television the muscle to record up to 8 simultaneous channels in high definition. Up to 26 hours of HD programming can be recorded on the built-in 3 Tera Bytes of storage, out of which 2 TB is used for recording programs. The rest is utilized by the on-board Blu-ray player for storing some of your favorite titles.
