Review Details Fly phone theatre MV135 - Feel the pulse of beats and music with Boom speakers As the mobile market widens its horizon and expands its wings, with a new series of Dual-SIM handsets have been introduced which creates the competition, which is just getting more competitive every day! Today we received a latest model of a Dual SIM (GSM+GSM) cell phone - the theatre; officially known as MV135 from Fly. It truly holds an edge with its spectacular looks and sublime multimedia audio speaker’s performance. It's sleek and stylish design with a predominant orange stripe running across the edges of the battery cover and an orange coat highlighting the keys on the keypad. The multimedia control buttons and the navigation dial coated orange in colour, adds to the beauty of the cell phone.
The glossy black finish on the front panel of the phone and similarly at the back of it adds a striking contrast to the design inculcated. The Fly MV135 has data connectivity ports on the top of the device instead of at the side, both the USB port & the 3.5mm audio jack are moved to the top. The cover of the battery can be easily taken off using the finger grip on either sides of the back-panel. The 2 Mega-Pixel camera lens at the top of the back panel which is covering the battery and is highlighted by the orange stripe running across the edges of the back panel. Also, the boom logo craved on the back-panel is decorated with some patched with dots artwork making a nice contrast against the orange strips, which marks the limited shape of the battery cover.
Removing the battery reveals dual GSM SIM card slots and one microSD memory slot. The bundled 2GB microSD card sorts out the purpose for data storage which most mobile phones tend to miss out these days. The bundled memory card provides us the option to download songs and videos from the PC for playback on the phone.
The angled keypad design with soft touch keys delivers constant tactile feedback and provides swift response to the user. Thus, the user could type efficiently the messages, without having to provide the input multiple times.
Performance
The accelerometer serves well for watching high quality videos in full screen landscape mode. Although, we noticed stuttering while the playback of a video and slow frame rates during the test. Also, the viewing angle is quite small for this panel of display, compromising viewing experience. However, the plus point about its good display is its legibility under bright sunshine. Overall, the display test yielded satisfactory results, clearly justifying the tag given to the phone as the “phone theatre” to some extent. The loudspeaker audio quality with the dynamic bass boost was quite satisfactory but due to the well balanced treble it plays soothing music. The audio clarity was clear till the level of 75%. The boom speakers truly held its position producing good lows and high mid.
The earphones in the packaging come along as an accessory with the phone. Although, we have found some sound distortion at above 75% mark where both with the built in loudspeaker and as well as the earphones. This product from Fly has a decent output in the signal reception and voice clarity test. The output with the built in speakers on the MV135 produced distorted sound output at higher volumes, although the audibility was very good. It was disappointing to hear the audio quality of the device, as it failed to perform in noisy backgrounds.
Considering the camera quality test, it did well in taking good pictures. However, the pictures clicked in outdoors looked far much better than taken in indoors, focusing on the need for autofocus and flash, which is a major drawback. Also, the video quality test was only satisfactory with visible grains and patches of pixelated artifacts in every frame of the video. However, the phone exhibited good data transfer speeds with a score of 736kbps while sending a file of 5 MB via Bluetooth. Overall, if we can side-line the underperforming video camera and average device loudspeaker, it is a decent multimedia device.
Conclusion
At a price of Rs. 3,949, it makes a good buy with attractive display quality and multimedia speakers. However, we would not recommend it, just because of its lack of features in multimedia section.
