The  Nokia N8- Relaunched with Symbian Anna

The Nokia N8 launched almost a year back has been updated with the Symbian Anna Platform taking the phone to a whole new level. Earlier version was launched with the symbian 3 OS which dint do much for the phone.

Look & Feel

The design of the phone remains the same but it is now available in Hot Pink color. It supports a large 3.5 inch touchscreen and has just a menu key. On the left hand side are the MicroSD and sim cars slots as well as the USB Port. On the right side panel it supports the volume rocker, camera key and display lock slider. The battery has been made inaccessible in this nokia phone just like apple. This can be a problem if the battery has to be changed. It supports a powerful 12 MP Camera that bulges out in this sleek phone. This makes the phone seem raised from one end and making the phone prone to scratches and the camera may also wear out quickly. It seems we have gone back to the face when we used to keep the Nokia 6600 face down to keep the battery from getting scratched.

This phone weighs 135 grams making it a little bulky. The 3.5 inch display makes it easy to type a message with one hand. The menu key could also have been made a touch sensitive one. 

Features

The Symbian Anna update is awesome. The original Symbian 3 made the phone very slow. After Symbian Anna the phone seems easier and lighter to use. However nokia still had to leave out the extra widgets for Facebook and Twitter. The 12 MP Camera is still one of its kind and other phones have yet to catch up.

Performance

It supports a 680MHz processor which is not very powerful. After the Anna update the phone seems faster, UI seems smoother and applications respond quicker. The original Symbian 3 OS made the phone extremely slow and the OS would crash and freeze constantly.

The Symbian Anna will have a bright future if nokia decides to add in faster processors and more RAM. The UI makes the touch response quicker and it is comfortable to write messages. However, the display screen is easier to use in the landscape mode.

The 12 MP Camera is very impressive and will suit you if you like to click loads of pictures. We found that the camera clicks amazing pictures even in dim lighting and the HD recording is also good. When we reviewed the Nokia E6 we had found the web browser pretty good and the large display makes it easier to use. We found that some pages did not fit well but it is still a minor problem.

The battery life of this phone is pretty amazing and lasted a full 3 days even under full usage. We made a lot of calls, used web connectivity and the phone lasted for almost 3 days which is quite amazing. 

Our Take

The Nokia N8 is an amazing Smartphone. The hardware was good and the new OS has made the even better. Priced at Rs. 23,000 this Smartphone is definitely worth it. The 12 MP Camera, the long battery life and the latest symbian Anna makes it an excellent choice.
