Pine prince - affordable dual-SIM phone
Here, in today’s world of mobile phones the Indian mobile market, the growing demand for Dual Sim phones are increasing. Considering the demand, Pine mobiles launched “Pine Prince”, which is another one of a dual SIM mobile phone. It does tightens the competition against Movil MC10. It incorporates all plastic body, with a silver metallic finish decorating the body contours of Pine Prince.
The layout of the phone is designed as to keep in focus the ease of usability for every type of users. A circular dial which includes the navigation controls and at the center there is a select button, which is place right below the LCD screen. The layout of the keyboard is as, that there are 7 keys places as a strip in series, arranged in 7 successive rows. The rows are separated from each other with a gap of one character narrow ridge. Finger navigation is much easier which provide ergonomic typing with the incorporated ridges. The keys provide consistent tactile feedback and accurate response while typing, due to the hard touch type.
The quality of the cover of the battery is quite ordinary which lacks flexibility. Removing the back panel of the phone, results in hurting your fingers. Removing the battery reveals two GSM SIM Card slots and a slot for microSD card. The LCD screen comes with a screen guard out of the box. Pine Prince chose not to integrate a USB cable nor Bluetooth feature, which is a major drawback, also the lack of camera , makes it even worse for the brand’s image.
Performance
The phone was put under series of tests to check the signal reception and voice clarity. Prince apparently showed no weak points, as it was confirmed by the test. As the result suggest decent scores across all major tests. But to our disappointment the loudspeakers of the phone produced distorted volumes when it was pushed higher than 60% at volume levels. Under stress condition where there was noise in the background, the voice clarity dropped considerable across zone 3, whereas in zone 1 and zone 2 it remained satisfactory.
The audio quality of the speakers were just average. It lacked the bass and also suffered choppy sound reproduction at volumes higher than 60%. The earphones yielded better results when compared to the speakers of the phone. With good lows and mids but produced distortion with volume level up to 75%. The display quality was ordinary, particularly the visibility under bright sunshine. The video playback on the Prince revealed grainy particles with mild stuttering at some points, leading to lower frame rates and intermittent sound quality.
Conclusion
The Pine prince is a mobile phone that is just rich on basic features and average with performance. The lack of camera and PC connectivity for data transfer (no USB cable and Bluetooth), remains the major drawback. If you are in search for a phone within an affordable range which have dual SIM card capability without the camera and solution for connectivity, Pine Price is the phone for you. The price for no such special features, it is for Rs. 1,795.
