Sony Ericsson W890 is a Bar Phone, 2 Inches Screen Size, 256 K Color Display, 3.15 MP Camera with Video Capture, Auto Focus, Digital Zoom and FM Radio.

W890 measures 9.9mm and weighs 78 grams. It is equipped with a 3.2 megapixel digital camera with zoom and video capture feature. You can view your pictures or videos on the two inch QVGA TFT 240 x 320 pixels display that can handle 262k colors. The W890 has a camera installed on its front panel to support video calls.

The Sony Ericsson W890 supports networks with frequencies of GSM850, GSM900, GSM1800, GSM1900, EDGE, HSDPA and UMTS 2100.  It also has HSDPA support. 

The W890 features support for removable Memory Stick Micro storage, media browser and video and picture blogging. The W890 also supports Bluetooth data transfer for moving files to and from your personal computer or other devices that support Bluetooth technology.

Review Details

The W890 is one of the newer walkman phones around. Its dimensions are extremely compact, and the phone is very slim (half the thickness of the N95 8 GB!). The screen although small (2 inches) sports a high resolution of 240 x 320 pixels and at 78 grams the W890 won’t damage your shirt pocket. Build quality is also pretty good, and although metal (quite obviously) hasn’t been used in the construction everything feels solid and well put together even after a week of usage. The keypad is slightly cramped, but taking into consideration that this is a small phone SE has done a commendable job of using every available millimetre of space to prevent the keypad from becoming a serious hindrance to usage.

The W890 is a snappy phone, and it has a snappy 3.15 megapixel camera that offers some good results, although not as good as a dedicated camera phone would offer. In terms of connectivity the W890 is loaded, and WiFi is the only trick it misses out on. If you’re looking for a very compact, light phone with good music quality and a good camera for the price point of Rs 15,000 or so then the W890 makes a good buy at Rs 15,495. If the dimensions and weight aren’t of any consequence take a look at the next contender.
