Acer Liquid Launched in India

Acer has launched Liquid, its latest Android-powered device in India. Priced at Rs. 24,900, the Liquid is available in Red, White and black.
 
The Liquid is powered by a 768Mhz snapdragon processor. It runs the Android 1.6 operating system and there are no announced plans of supporting an upgrade to Android 2.0. Android 1.6 does not support multi-touch. Also, the Liquid does not support flash for web browsing.
 
The Liquid has a 3.5 inch wide capacitive touch screen with a resolution of 800x480 pixels. It has a 5 megapixel camera with an autofocus and flash, and support for auto geo-tagging using the on board GPS. For connectivity, it supports Wi-Fi as well. It also supports external storage of up to 32GB.
 
Android is an open source operating system which has become extremely popular. Widgets, applications that display information, like status updates on Facebook and other social networking sites, on the home screen are a major reason for the success of this platform. Though Acer is not known for its mobile phones, initial reviews for the Liquid seem positive.
