Quad-core HTC Edge smartphone to be Launched on February 26

2012 will see the first of the quad-core smartphones, and we expect a number will make their way to shelves soon. The Samsung flagship smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S III, is also expected to ship with a quad-core processor. Other companies that are rumoured to be developing quad-core devices for 2012 are Lenovo and Acer.

A recent report at GSMArena claims HTC is also developing its first quad-core smartphone, and will launch just before MWC this year. Called the HTC Edge, it is expected to run on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich with HTC Sense 4.0 UI, on top of an NVIDIA Tegra 3 (AP30) 1.5GHz quad-core processor.

Other specs include a 4.7-inch screen with 720p HD resolution, 1GB of RAM and an 8MP camera with f/2.2 lens and 720p HD video recording. February 26 will also see launch events from Huawei, Samsung, and Sony. Notably, the already launched Asus Transformer Prime, already runs on the Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core processor.
