The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 Plus has similar features to the original Samsung Galaxy Tab P1000 and the design of Tab 730 and the Tab 750. The tablet offers good performance and nice features.
Look & Feel
It looks similar to the Galaxy Tab 730 and the Galaxy Tab 750 though it is a little thicker than the Tab 750. It has a black bezel around the 7-inch display. On the bottom panel you will find a charging port as well as two sets of speakers. On the left spine there is a SIM card and microSD card slots. On the top is the A 3.5mm headphone jack is placed on the top panel while the power key and the volume rocker are on the right.
On the rear you will find an enamel white finish and has silver strip along the edges of the tablet that looks very good. The tablet supports a 3MP camera with LED flash. Overall, the build quality of the camera is very good with no rough edges or flimsy bits. The tab is light with a slim design that is comfortable to hold. You can’t use the Tab 7 Plus with one hand which can be said for the Galaxy Note. For a bigger display you also have the 8.9-inch display of the Galaxy Tab 730.
Features & Performance
It is powered with a 1.2GHz dual core Exynos 4210 processor with 1GB RAM. The tablet is preloaded with Android 3.2 (Honeycomb) OS and has the TouchWiz UI. The UI is similar to the Galaxy smartphone and tablet family with similar widgets and backgrounds. We found that there was a weird UI lag in the tablet although it seems very powerful. The app list stutters once in a while and the orientation change or the web browsing experience isn't smooth. However the Apps and games work fine and the background app load doesn’t bother the Tab 7 Plus.
The tablet supports a 7-inch PLS LCD type with 1024 x 600 pixels display resolution. It doesn’t have the Super AMOLED display of the Samsung Galaxy Note but is still good. What is a letdown is the low resolution of the display, something that will hamper the experience of watching videos, particularly if you are watching HD ones.
The TouchWiz UI is like all other Galaxy family tablets. On this tablet the UI tends to stutter. The Tab 7 Plus offers a long battery life and will last about 3 days with the Wi-Fi connected throughout as well as using web browsing, video and music, games or even social networking.
Our Take
We suggest you go instead for the Tab 730 that is available for just Rs 2000 more and has the 8.9-inch display that offers a better web browsing experience or if you want more portability you can go for the Samsung Galaxy Note. We suggest you check out all the 3 devices before making up your mind.
